Tax Day Flood – Disaster Recovery Program, Little Cypress Creek Erosion Repairs

The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) Disaster Recovery Program was initiated to repair various waterways and channels that were damaged in the Tax Day Flood that occurred in April 2016. KIT Professionals, Inc. was assigned five separate project areas on Little Cypress Creek to assess the damage and design repairs in accordance with HCFCD standards and specifications. The project scope includes the design of reconstruction and repairs to channel banks, toe of slopes, and back-slope areas, to repair damage caused by the Tax Day Flood and mitigate damage from future events. KIT is providing preliminary engineering, final design, and construction phase services.

Project Highlights

  • Completed Preliminary Engineering Report was revised to include the additional damage due to effects of Hurricane Harvey.
  • Federally funded project was successfully completed to comply with and aggressive schedule.
