Wastewater Collection System Modeling

The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) Woodlands Division has identified the need to update and validate the Woodlands Wastewater Collection System (CS) model. The Woodlands CS Model includes three wastewater treatment facilities, 30 lift stations, 510 sub‑catchment areas, 1,210 sewer lines that include gravity mains and force mains ranging from 4 to 72-inch diameter, and 1,244 nodes that include manholes and outfall nodes.  The Woodlands CS includes approximately 99,000 linear feet (LF) of force mains and approximately 290,000 LF of gravity mains.

Project Highlights

  • Reviewed and updated the dry weather and wet weather flow information, wastewater flow distribution and peaking factors information
  • Verified and validated the updated model using information available from the SJRA Woodlands collection system, lift stations and wastewater treatment plants
  • Identified sanitary sewer system deficiencies and develop solutions to address the deficiencies
  • Coordinated training sessions for SJRA Woodlands staff on model application
